Stoked for Adam's wedding!
The Wisconsin part of Lake Michigan. Swathi and Adam had their ceremony at The Pilot House, Discovery World (Aquarium) in Milwaukee, after which a lunch followed and then a full reception and cocktail hour in the evening at Renaissance Place. Sigh.. if only the weather could always look this Cape Town good.
As part of the tradition, the groom undergoes a spiritual (and literal journey on horseback) in order to prepare himself for marriage. It was so wonderful to see Adam's whole family involved in the ceremony and to see how different cultures sanctify marriage.
After Adam has completed his journey, the bride arrives escorted by her brother, her future brother-in-law, the best man and groomsmen. Swathi's attire was ornate and spectacular and reflected the natural setting of the ceremony with the lake in the background.
After the three hour ceremony they are finally married!! Yippee!!! Congrats!!!
The uberest cakes ever. The cake in the foreground is the 'Groom's Cake' and bares the logo of Northwestern University where Adam and Swathi met whilst completing their undergraduate degrees.
This picture was taken at the brunch held the next morning and hosted by Adam's family. Adam is looking super perky after 5 days non-stop of wedding ceremonies. I think Ryan is pretty stoked to have a new guy to welcome to the married club. You know, so that they can natter like old ladies and discuss strategies to keep their wives happy :) Adam bought Swathi a puppy.. Ryan... where's my puppy?!
P.S. Adam 'the Griff' Griffin and Ryan are studying together.
P.P.S. Adam really did get Swathi a puppy - his name is Dexter and he has just joined them a few weeks ago. We met him for the first time at Halloween so look out for that post to see him in his outfit! Dexter. Not Adam.
