Graduation...!

So this post is pretty incredible. I remember when Ryan first came to me saying that it was time for a change and would I be on board for an international journey? We debated UK vs US and finally settled on the States - undoubtedly a bigger challenge in terms of visas, finance, familiarity and distance. Ryan has been in the States for almost 2 years now and I still feel that the adventure is just beginning. Graduations tend to symbolise that. So to Ryan and all the MBA Chicago Booth grads, congratulations on completion of this amazing achievement! Two years have flown! Here are some great pics from the day.

Glee!

A while back during the dark and depressing Chicago winter, I stumbled across a little show called Glee. Whilst some of the songs and aspects of the story line can be a bit corny, the overall theme of the show for me is enjoyment. They sing catchy songs, they wear cool clothes and have some great guest stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Fleetwood Mac, Josh Groban, John Stamos etc. So when the opportunity arose to see them live, I was very excited. Fleur (a fellow South African living in Chicago with a significant other, as they are termed, in business school) and I made the trek to the arena and had a fantastic time! I will try and remember which song they are singing in each photo. If you are unfamiliar with Glee you won't really recognise the cast so bare with me. If you like musicals and pop culture and older classics, I am sure you'll enjoy the show. It'll fill you with... Glee! (I said the show was corny..)

If you watch the show then you'll know that all the cast members get slushied at some point for being losers for being part of the Glee club. So we had to get a slushy because we were at the concert!

The show opened with Will and Sue giving us a pep talk about being at the concert. Sue had her cheerleaders 'hand out' Sue's Barf Bags in case the singing and dancing made us puke.

Classic Glee: Don't Stop Believing by Journey

 Sing - My Chemical Romance

Traditionally the Glee club covers old and new hits and every now and again dedicates an episode to a specific artist. They've done Madonna, Olivia Newton-John (who was on the show), Fleetwood Mac, Lady Gaga etc. The Britney episode was really really well done. They have a cheerleader in the cast who's name is Britney S. Pierce.. And she's a ditz so it's extra funny. This was her Britney version of 'I'm A Slave 4U' which is the original Glee TV version had the albino anaconda dancing with her. Heather Morris who plays Britney in the show was cast originally as a dancer not an actress of singer. I don't think she had any lines in the show but as it progressed she'd say the odd quippy one liners and became a regular speaking part as time went on. Things turned out pretty well for her.
